Daylight Savings Time - fall back!

When I woke up this morning, the clock said 8 am. I yawned and stretched and began to roll out of bed when I suddenly remembered... Daylight Savings Time!

Daylight Savings in the fall means fall back, so we get to set the clocks back one hour. It's actually 7 am now. Let's change the clock.

So, do you know what that means? Yup, I'm going back to bed!

"Oh Ajdin!" said Miss Feathers. "You really should get up now anyways. I've been up since 4 am. C'mon, Ajdin, get up!"

ZZZZZZZZZZ...

Hello everyone! This is a couple days late, but my friends Jerry and Ben were hosting their annual Halloween costume contest and I decided to enter. Last year, I was a nerd.

Here's my costume for this year from the back. Do you have any guesses?

No guesses? Okay, I will turn around then.

Summer Road Trip, part 2

Next up on our road trip was a stop at Bryce Canyon National Park. I was so busy taking pictures of the park that I forgot to take a selfie here. That reminds me, I need to get a stuffie-sized selfie stick. Does anyone have one?

This is the Bryce Canyon Ampitheater. You can see millions of years of nature's work sculpting and molding rocks into interesting shapes.

The rocks look like little statues up close, but they are all natural!

The formations that look like little clumps stacked on top of each other are called hoodoos. They erode at a rate of 2-4 feet every 100 years.

Oh, hello there! I met a friendly squirrel who was also taking in the sights.

Okay, so we're having a great trip so far, but time for a quick stop to get some snacks. Look at what I found - HONEY STINGER energy bars. Have you had these before? They have honey in them so it must be good.

After a quick refuel, we continued on our road trip and stopped at Dead Horse Point. Hmm, I don't like the sound of this place. At least it's not Dead Bear Point?  *gulp*

Wow, just wow...

The view seems to change every 2 minutes with the sun and the shadows.

This is not a Photoshopped image!

Wow! Look at how the river bends 180 degrees!

Let's keep going on our road trip...

Summer Road Trip in Utah and Arizona

Hey everyone, my secretary finally got around to getting some photos together from our summer road trip in Utah and Arizona so I can do a blog post. It's about time! Okay, let me show you what we did.

I flew into Las Vegas, Nevada where I met up with my friend Droopy and we started our road trip from there to Utah. My secretary did not do a good job of captioning the photos (sigh), so I don't remember exactly where each one was taken, but we visited several national parks, including Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Canyonlands, and the Arches.

It was beary hot when we visited the parks, some days reaching 117 F! It was a rugged outing, so looks like a job for my Bear Cub Scout uniform. I wonder if Bear Cub Scout Leader Uncle Tibbs will give me a hiking badge for this.

My fur seems to blend in with the red dirt, doesn't it?

I sat down on some rocks, only to find that it was so hot and burned my bum!

Some of these rocks look like they could topple over at any moment. If that's the case, then I'm outta here!

This one too... yikes.

We stopped at a scenic view on the side of the road and also met some Navajo indians who were selling some of their handmade arts and crafts. They have beary beautiful jewelry and pottery. Take a look! I saw a lot of bear items because the bear is a sacred animal to the indians and symbolizes strength and courage. (Yes, I agree.)  :)

Okay, let's see what else we'll find on this trip...

Stuffie Spotlight: Little Fox

This month's Stuffie Spotlight features my friend Little Fox! Thank you Little Fox, for sharing your interview.

1) What is your name and where do you live?
My given name is Little Fox.   Yes, my first name is Little (I guess my mom knew I was the runt of the litter). Droopy started calling me L.F. and I like that nickname. I’ve lived most of my life in Oregon and like it here a-lot (except for the traffic, ugh).

2) Tell us about how you got started blogging/writing.

I have been traveling and adventuring with my roommates for many years.  My roommates always had little stories about my eccentricities.  There was a time I was addicted to rice crackers, I love Huckleberries, and I often go out at night to a place called the Bear Hall where local stuffies go and party.  My roommate played around with writing a few books involving animals and realized it was hard work to write a book but it was pretty easy to start blogging so here we are.

 3) What other pursuits do you have?

Great question. Hmm, I would have to say my favorite pursuit is, wait for it......hiking.  I love to explore the trails in the Pacific Northwest and elsewhere.  My favorite trail is Observation Peak in Yellowstone National Park.  It's about 10 miles but worth every step. Since January 1, 2013 I have hiked around 760 miles. I started keeping track in 2013 but have been hiking much longer.  I think that if Stuffie Tours ever starts a hiking division I want to help out.

Besides hiking I also like to travel.  Most of my travel is around the Northwest on weekend trips or day trips.  I have been to a few international destinations including: Puerto Vallarta Mexico, Canadian Rockies, Sandy's house in Canada, and on a stuffie tour to London.

Most of my domestic travel has been based on the Western Coast of the United States (hey, it's close to my house) but I do want to take a tour to the monuments of DC, the sites of NYC, and to visit my East Coast stuffie friends.

Cooking is an important part of my life.  I like to help my roommates cook meals that I sometimes get to eat.  I am planning on having a recipe contest in the future (as I did a couple of years ago) to see what kinds of neat foods my stuffie friends share with me.

My other hobbies include: visiting wineries and tasting their wine, periodically going to the local casinos, and I am trying to visit the Grand Hotels of Oregon (which there are not many).

Another hobby that I enjoy is finding unique signs along my travels. I am a sucker for anything with an animal but a good quirky sign makes me happy.

Now, I am always on the lookout for new hobbies so if you have any suggestions readers please share......please……please!

4) What is your favorite food and favorite thing to do?
Excellent question.  Being a fox, I have to say that my favorite food is chicken.  I enjoy chicken in a pot with potatoes cooking in the juices of the chicken. Yum.

I really like all types of food and styles of cooking. It's quite a combination of science and art.  One thing that doesn't do it for me is baking, too much of a science for me (unless the baking involves opening a box mix of Ghirardelli brownies and throwing it in the oven).

My favorite thing to do is take trips.  That could be a day trip to the beach or a more involved trip to another state.  Of course on my travels I like to hike, try restaurants, try to find where the locals go, and sometimes I meet other stuffies.

5) What's next for Little Fox? I added a question, I hope that's OK....I have encouraged some of my human friends to get stuffies and take them out on adventures.  I need to encourage more of my human friends to get stuffies.  Maybe I should here a PR agency?

There are some trails that are "hut to hut" hikes where you day hike, go to a lodge, have a meal prepared by a cook, and sleep in a bed.  That sounds pretty good to me.

I would also like to travel the AlCan Highway.  Can you imagine the wildlife on the trip from Alaska through Canada to Washington state?  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska_Highway

Stay tuned for the next Stuffie Spotlight - will it be you?
